Moving auto-rickshaw goes into flames; woman passenger charred to death

Thane:  Woman passenger died of burns after an autorickshaw hit the divider and burst into flames. 

According to the police, the auto driver was severely burnt in the accident which took place at 5:45 am in Gaimukh area of ​​Ghodbunder Road. While going to Bhayandar from Thane city, the auto went out of control and hit the road divider and burst into flames.

According to PTI, Thane Municipality Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) chief Avinash Sawant told that the female passenger was trapped in the vehicle and died of burns. The driver, identified as Rajesh Kumar (45), sustained severe burns.

The auto was also damaged. On receiving the information, local fire officials and RDMC team reached the accident site and extinguished the fire within half an hour. 

The driver was taken to hospital where he is undergoing treatment. The body of the woman has been sent to the government hospital for post-mortem and the police is trying to identify the dead woman. 

The Kasarvadavali police are investigating the accident.
