CM Revanth Reddy Meets Manohar Lal Khattar Seeks Centre’s Approval for Metro Phase-II and Bharat Future City Corridor

CM Revanth Reddy met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi seeking approval for Hyderabad Metro Phase-II and the RGIA Airport–Bharat Future City Corridor project.

New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar at his residence located at 3, Krishna Menon Marg, New Delhi.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy requested the Government of India to accord approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project, highlighting its importance in strengthening urban mobility and addressing the growing transportation needs of Hyderabad city.

The Chief Minister also urged the Union Minister to consider the RGIA Airport–Bharat Future City Corridor under Metro Phase-III, stating that the project would play a strategic role in improving connectivity and supporting Hyderabad’s future expansion.

Hyderabad Metro Phase-II DPR Already Submitted

During the discussions, the Chief Minister informed the Union Minister that the Telangana government had already prepared and submitted a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II.

According to the proposal:

  • Metro Phase-II includes 7 corridors
  • The total expansion length is 122.9 kilometers
  • The estimated project cost is Rs. 38,595 crore

The Chief Minister requested the Centre to grant early approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II project as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Telangana government.

Telangana Government Explains Metro Expansion Plans

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy explained that the Telangana government had taken over L&TMRHL’s Metro Phase-I operations to ensure the smooth expansion of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II and Phase-III projects.

He said that since Metro Phase-I is now under the government’s control, the expansion of Metro Phase-II and Metro Phase-III would become easier and more streamlined.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to further expand the Hyderabad Metro network considering the rapidly growing urban population and increasing passenger requirements in Hyderabad.

RGIA Airport–Bharat Future City Corridor Proposed Under Phase-III

The Chief Minister requested the Union Minister to consider the RGIA Airport–Bharat Future City Corridor as part of Metro Phase-III keeping in view Hyderabad’s future infrastructure and urban development needs.

He informed the Union Minister that the DPR related to Metro Phase-III had also already been submitted.

The meeting focused on accelerating major infrastructure projects considered important for Hyderabad’s long-term growth and urban transport development.

  • N.V.S. Reddy, Advisor (Urban Transport), Telangana Government
  • Sanjay Kumar, Special Officer, Telangana Bhavan Delhi
  • Advait Kumar Singh, Coordination Secretary for Central Government Schemes
  • Other senior officials

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi and sought immediate approval for Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, which includes 7 corridors spanning 122.9 km with an estimated cost of Rs. 38,595 crore. The Chief Minister also proposed the RGIA Airport–Bharat Future City Corridor under Metro Phase-III and stressed the importance of expanding Hyderabad Metro infrastructure to meet the city’s future transportation needs. Senior officials from the Telangana government and urban development departments attended the meeting.
