Right wing lobby wants to keep hijab row alive; Invigilator suspended

Bengaluru: After denying a number of Muslim students the right to appear exams on the basis of their attire, now an invigilator has been denied her fundamental right in a school in Karnataka.

As reported by News18, Noor Fatima who was on invigilation duty has been suspended for wearing hijab to the SSLC exams at the KTSV School Bengaluru.

After a verdict of Karnataka High Court, students have been banned from wearing hijab in schools. However, there were no such instructions for teachers. In any school uniform is prescribed only for students and not for teachers. Teachers can wear attire of their choice.

 But invigilator Noor Fatima has been suspended for wearing the head covering.

A number of students chose not to appear for the exams as they were asked to remove head scarves.
