Sale of Millet products commences at 3 Railway Stations in Hyderabad under OSOP initiative
Micro startups such as M/s Nine Nutz, M/s M for Millets, and M/s Ancient Foods are operating OSOP stalls at these stations and selling a variety of millet-based sweets, snacks, millet based breakfast mixes, and millet chikkis, a South Central Railway (SCR) release said on Saturday.
Hyderabad: The sale of millet products has commenced at Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Begumpet Railway stations under the “One Station One Product” (OSOP) initiative.
Micro startups such as M/s Nine Nutz, M/s M for Millets, and M/s Ancient Foods are operating OSOP stalls at these stations and selling a variety of millet-based sweets, snacks, millet based breakfast mixes, and millet chikkis, a South Central Railway (SCR) release said on Saturday.
Millets have been an integral part of the Indian diet for centuries.
With the aim to create awareness and increase production & consumption of millets, United Nations, at the behest of the Government of India, declared 2023 as the International Year Millets. To commemorate this, Government of India is hosting various interactive activities around Millets.
The Indian Railways is encouraging the sale of millet-based products to create domestic and global demand and provide healthy food options to people. The Railway Board has advised the zonal railways to sell millet-based products on OSOP stalls, based on a list of startups dealing with millet-based products provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India.
At all the three stations, the Millet Based Food products are receiving very good response and sales are
increasing day by day. The owners of the startup have also mentioned that the stall have been a boon for them as many people are knowing about their products now. They are also receiving bulk orders from different places through the outlet.
South Central Railway General Manager Arun Kumar Jain complimented the Secunderabad Division officials for starting a great initiative of selling millets in OSOP stalls.
He appealed to the rail users to utilize this opportunity as the millet products sold at these stations serve the purpose of being both tasteful and healthy.
Jain also instructed the officials to encourage for setting up of more OSOP millet stalls at other major stations also.
