Hyderabad: In a significant development for the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project (PRLIP), officials have successfully commissioned the second motor at the Narlapur (Nallapoor) Pump House, nearly 34 months after work was last carried out.
The second motor successfully completed its wet run trial, with Krishna River water flowing through the system, marking an important milestone in the project’s progress.
Officials said the successful trial confirmed the operational readiness of the motor and associated infrastructure. They added that the project can be brought into operation immediately once formal approval and directions are received from the state government.

The Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project was largely developed during the tenure of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), with major civil works, pump houses, and motor installations completed during that period.
Supporters of the project described the commissioning of the second motor as the realization of KCR’s vision to provide irrigation water to drought-prone regions of southern Telangana. The project is expected to benefit several districts by supplying irrigation and drinking water once it becomes fully operational.
Officials are now awaiting the government’s clearance to begin regular pumping operations and deliver Krishna River water through the irrigation network.
