Gill and Sudharsan continued their remarkable consistency as an opening pair by registering their record seventh century partnership in the IPL, helping Gujarat Titans dominate on a batting-friendly surface.
Gill and Sudharsan Create IPL Record
Titans skipper Shubman Gill scored 64 runs off 37 balls and displayed aggressive batting from the start, especially against left-arm pacer Spencer Johnson during the powerplay.
Gill reached his half-century in just 23 balls, while Sai Sudharsan scored 84 runs off 53 balls and completed his fifty in 35 balls. It was Sudharsan’s fifth consecutive half-century in the IPL.
The opening pair added 125 runs in 74 balls for the first wicket.
The duo also brought up their seventh 100-run partnership in IPL history, surpassing the pairs of:
- David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan
- Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma
Both those pairs had recorded six century partnerships each in the IPL.
Gujarat Titans Dominate Powerplay Against CSK
Gujarat Titans reached 62 runs in the powerplay without much trouble.
Gill attacked Spencer Johnson with a series of elegant boundaries, including:

- Multiple boundaries using the crease effectively
- A majestic straight drive
After spinner Noor Ahmad was introduced after the powerplay, Gill continued his attack by slog-sweeping him for two sixes.

Buttler Finishes Strong for Gujarat Titans
After Gill’s dismissal, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler maintained the scoring momentum and took Gujarat Titans well beyond the 200-run mark.
Sudharsan continued his controlled innings and hit a spectacular six over point off a wide low full toss bowled by Anshul Kamboj in the penultimate over.
Jos Buttler remained unbeaten on 57 runs off 27 balls and smashed four sixes during his innings, including two off Noor Ahmad.
