Hyderabad: BRS working president and former minister KTR today said he was happy that the BRS’ long efforts to solve the traffic woes of the people for 10 years from the moment it came to power has finally paid off.
He expressed happiness that the Centre had given the green signal to the Defence Ministry to give land for the construction of elevated corridors (Skyways) on the Hyderabad-Karimnagar Rajiv Road and the Hyderabad-Nagpur National Highway routes and claimed that it was a victory of the BRS party.
He said that The BRS government had also taken a decision on these issues at a cabinet meeting held on July 31 last year and added that it was heartening to note that the Centre had given its nod accordingly. “Earlier, the Defence Ministry had allotted 33 acres of land in its possession and now with the government coming forward to hand over another 150 acres, all hurdles in the construction of skyways have been removed,” he said.
He said that Due to the presence of defence land on these two routes, the expansion of roads had not been possible for so long and added that for decades governments had not taken the initiative to construct the flyovers. He claimed that people had suffered for so long due to the traffic problems. “That is why since the formation of the BRS government in 2014, several key plans have been drawn up for the construction of the elevated flyovers on these two routes and all continuous consultations have been held to convince the central government,” he said.
He said that he, other ministers and MPs met the elders of Delhi and submitted memorandums and added that they responded positively on every occasion. He said that all the plans prepared by the state government for the construction of elevated flyovers had been sent to the central government and added that the process had been expedited by providing answers to the questions raised by them from time to time.
He expressed happiness that with the construction of elevated corridors through the defence land in Hyderabad, the traffic woes of the people coming and going on these routes would be completely solved. KTR thanked the officials and the machinery for their participation in the 10-year-long struggle of the last BRS party rule to convince the central government. He said that the flyovers and underpasses constructed at lightning speed during his rule have permanently solved the traffic problems in hyderabad metropolitan city.
Recently, two flyovers from JBS to Shameerpet and Paradise to Kandlakoya route have received a green signal from the Centre. He said that in the wake of decades of solving the problem, The construction of elevated flyovers should be completed on a war footing without any further delay.
