Police investigations revealed that Deepti’s sister Chandana, conspired with her boyfriend to kill her. In the wake of her parents’ opposition to her love marriage, the younger sister decided to elope with her boyfriend and marry him. She subsequently murdered her elder sister and absconded with gold and cash.
The police received information that the suspects were traveling in a car along the Armor – Balconda route. Police apprehended the culprits at Jaivir Teja Dhaba on that route.

Chandana Proposed Marriage to Umar
Jagityala SP Bhaskar disclosed the details of Deepti’s murder case to the media on Saturday evening. Banka Chandana from Korutla enrolled in a private college in Hyderabad in 2019 to pursue a B.Tech degree.
Umar Sheikh Sultan (25), a year her senior, became acquainted with Chandana as they were classmates. Their friendship eventually evolved into a romantic relationship, according to the SP.
Chandana proposed marriage to Umar, who hesitated due to their unsettled lives. On August 19 this year, Chandana summoned Umar and requested him to marry her.
Umar, however, suggested they delay marriage until they were more established. Chandana discussed this matter with Umar’s mother Syed Alia, sister Fatima, and friend Hafiz during a WhatsApp call.
Fatal Night: How Deepti’s Murder Unfolded
Deepti and Chandana consumed Vodka
In pursuit of her marriage plan, Chandana took a drastic step. On August 28, Chandana’s parents were scheduled to travel to Hyderabad for an event, leaving Deepti and Chandana at home. The house contained cash and gold.
Chandana suggested to Umar that they take the money and gold to get married. On the morning of August 28, Umar drove from Hyderabad and arrived in Korutla at 1100 hours..
As part of their plan, Chandana brought Vodka and a breezer. That night, Deepti and Chandana consumed these beverages together. At 0200 hours in the night, Chandana sent a message to Umar, who parked his car behind the house and entered.
Subsequently, when they attempted to take the gold and cash, Deepti woke up and screamed. Chandana used a plaster to cover Deepti’s face and nose, causing her to lose consciousness. Umar and Chandana tied her hands and gagged her without raising an alarm. Approximately ten minutes later, Deepti became motionless.

Plan to travel to Mumbai and Nagpur
They made away with 70 tolas of gold and Rs. 1.20 lakh in cash. They also removed the plaster from Deepti’s mouth and created it to make it appear as if she had consumed vodka and died.
They departed for Hyderabad at 0500 hours in the morning. Chandana and Umar planned to travel to Mumbai and Nagpur with the cash and gold after informing Umar’s mother, sister, and cousin about the incident. Their intention was to marry and settle down in those cities.

The accused– Chandana, Umar, Syed Alia, Fatima, and Hafeez. SP Bhaskar reported that all five have been apprehended, brought before the court, and remanded.
