Telangana University Vice Chancellor held for accepting Rs 50,000 bribe

VC demanded the money from the complainant Dasari Shankar, President, Sri Shirdi Sai Educational Society, Armoor Town, Nizamabad district for allotting examination center.

Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials on Saturday trapped red-handed Telangana University, Nizamabad Vice-Chancellor Dachepalli Ravinder at his residence in Tarnaka here when he demanded and accepted the bribe amount of Rs 50,000.

ACB in a release said the Vice Chancellor demanded the money from the complainant Dasari Shankar, President, Sri Shirdi Sai Educational Society, Amoor Town, Nizamabad district as a reward for allotting the examination center to the complainant’s college.

The bribe amount of Rs 50,000 was recovered at the instance of the Accused Officer from the Almirah in the Master Bedroom of the Vice Chancellor and both the hands tested positive in phenolphthalein test.

Ravinder performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

He will be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court here, the release added.
