Thousands Participate in International Yoga Day Celebrations at Shanti Sarovar, Hyderabad

International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Shanti Sarovar Auditorium in Gachibowli on Sunday, drawing thousands of participants from across the city.

The event featured yoga sessions led by renowned Yoga Master Sri Devender Sawhi of Bharatiya Yoga Sansthan, who guided attendees through Sookshma Yoga exercises and a series of physical yoga asanas aimed at promoting health and well-being.

Welcoming the gathering, Rajyogini Kuldeep Didi, Director of Shanti Sarovar, encouraged participants to incorporate Rajyoga Meditation into their daily lives for inner peace and spiritual growth. BK Anjali Sister, In-charge of the Himayat Nagar Centre, highlighted the importance of mental well-being and invited people to learn Rajyoga Meditation for holistic fitness and global harmony.

Addressing the gathering, Sri Balkishta Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Council for Higher Education, praised the humanitarian and spiritual services rendered by the Brahma Kumaris. He said the organization has been positively impacting people from all walks of life while inspiring youth through its values-based teachings. Stressing the need for spirituality in today’s materialistic world, he suggested that spiritual education should become an integral part of higher education. He also fondly recalled his visit to the Brahma Kumaris Headquarters at Mount Abu, describing it as a memorable and enriching experience.

Sri Sri Vijaya Shankara Swamy, President of Annamayya Peetham, Tirupati, described yoga as the union of the soul with the Supreme Soul, saying such a connection can transform individuals and society alike. Expressing concern over the growing menace of drug addiction, he noted that Rajyoga Meditation could serve as an effective remedy. He lauded the dedication of over 50,000 Brahma Kumari sisters committed to a life of service and lifelong Brahmacharya, and urged people to dedicate at least ten minutes each day to practicing Rajyoga Meditation.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Nageshwar Rao Polishetty, Founder of Love Yoga, said the Bhagavad Gita conveys the essence of yoga as a way of living naturally and skillfully. He emphasized that yoga extends beyond physical exercise and serves as a powerful tool for achieving mental well-being, emotional balance and inner harmony.

The programme inspired participants to adopt yoga and Rajyoga Meditation as effective means for achieving physical fitness, mental peace, spiritual empowerment and social harmony, reinforcing the significance of Yoga Day in promoting holistic well-being.
