Tornadoes Hit Several States of US, Kentucky Declares Emergency

The Governor said there could be as many as 50 people dead in Western Kentucky because of tornadoes. The main reason of the casualties is believed to be a collapse at a candle manufacturing unit in Graves County.

Washington: Governor of US state of Kentucky, Andy Beshear declared an official state of emergency on Saturday, as a series of tornadoes swept across the western portions of the state.

The Governor said there could be as many as 50 people dead in Western Kentucky because of tornadoes. The main reason of the casualties is believed to be a collapse at a candle manufacturing unit in Graves County.

Some 20 people were trapped inside a nursing home after it partly collapsed. Workers were also believed to be trapped inside a warehouse.

The US National Weather Service has issued tornado warnings for states, including Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and Illinois.
