Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a two-day special drive against drunken driving on May 15, 2026 and May 16, 2026 to ensure road safety across the city. During the special drive, a total of 474 drivers were caught driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

According to the press note issued by the Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad, the highest number of offenders were two-wheeler riders.
Hyderabad Traffic Police Drunk Driving Drive Details
Out of the total 474 drunken driving cases booked during the special drive:
- 417 were two-wheeler riders
- 24 were three-wheeler drivers
- 33 were four-wheeler and other vehicle drivers
The Hyderabad Traffic Police stated that the drive was conducted as part of efforts to improve road safety and prevent accidents caused by drunken driving.
BAC Levels Recorded in Hyderabad Drunk Driving Cases
The Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels recorded during the special drive were:
- 30-50 BAC: 103 cases
- 51-100 BAC: 188 cases
- 101-150 BAC: 100 cases
- 151-200 BAC: 44 cases
- 201-250 BAC: 19 cases
- 251-300 BAC: 08 cases
- 300 above BAC: 12 cases
Officials said cases were booked against all offenders found driving under the influence of alcohol.
Hyderabad Traffic Police Announces Zero Tolerance
The Hyderabad Traffic Police stated that there will be zero tolerance towards drunk driving violations and clarified that the special drive will continue in the coming days.
The department also appealed to commuters to cooperate with Hyderabad Traffic Police during enforcement drives conducted for public safety.
