HYDRAA saved land worth ₹700 crore in Kondapur by acting against encroachments at Jangamoni Kunta, stopping illegal plots and fencing the lake to protect it.

Hyderabad: In a major operation to protect public assets, HYDRAA has saved land worth nearly ₹700 crore in Kondapur by acting against large-scale encroachments at Jangamoni Kunta.

The action was taken along the Sherilingampally Municipal Office–Madinaguda road, where encroachers had illegally occupied and altered the lake area.


Serious Encroachment at Jangamoni Kunta in Kondapur

Officials said nearly 4 acres of Jangamoni Kunta had been completely erased by encroachers.

According to HYDRAA:

  • The lake area was filled with soil and levelled
  • Land was converted into plots
  • Preparations were underway to sell the plots illegally
  • The encroachment posed a serious threat to the lake’s existence

Joint Inspection After Media Reports

Following recent news reports about the disappearance of Jangamoni Kunta, HYDRAA conducted a joint inspection with Revenue officials.

Key actions taken:

  • On-ground verification of encroached land
  • Identification of illegal plot formation
  • Coordination with Revenue authorities

Based on findings, Revenue officials have booked cases against the encroachers.


HYDRAA Steps to Revive and Protect the Lake

HYDRAA has taken firm steps to restore and protect Jangamoni Kunta.

Measures include:

  • Immediate action to stop further encroachment
  • Fencing around the lake to secure boundaries
  • Long-term efforts to revive the water body

Officials said protecting lakes is essential for flood control, groundwater recharge, and environmental balance in Hyderabad.
