Hyderabad, May 13: The Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert for Telangana, forecasting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in several districts during the next three days. At the same time, maximum temperatures across the State are expected to rise gradually by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next four days, with heatwave conditions likely in parts of North Telangana.

According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, weather conditions are changing due to the influence of a low-pressure area, surface cyclonic circulation, and trough system.
Rain and Thunderstorm Forecast for Telangana
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre stated that:
- Light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places over one or two districts of Telangana on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
- Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are expected during the next three days.
The department warned that wind speeds may reach:
- 30-40 kmph on Wednesday
- 40-50 kmph on Thursday and Friday in some districts
Districts Likely to Receive Rainfall
The weather department said thunderstorms and gusty winds are likely at isolated places in districts including:
- Bhadradri Kothagudem
- Khammam
- Mahabubabad
- Jayashankar Bhupalpally
- Mulugu
The warning remains in effect for today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow.
Heatwave Warning for North Telangana
The Meteorological Department warned that heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in some districts of North Telangana from tomorrow.
Districts likely to experience heatwave conditions include:
- Adilabad
- Komuram Bheem Asifabad
- Mancherial
- Nirmal
- Nizamabad
- Jagtial
- Karimnagar
- Peddapalli
Officials said temperatures in several districts may cross 44 degrees Celsius in the coming days.
Low Pressure and Monsoon Conditions
According to the weather department:
- The low pressure area over southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal persists.
- Its associated surface trough extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
- A north-south trough extending from southwest Madhya Pradesh to south interior Karnataka also continues.
The department added that conditions are becoming favourable for the advance of the Southwest Monsoon into the South Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands by May 16, 2026.
Temperatures Expected to Increase
The Hyderabad Meteorological Centre stated that maximum temperatures across Telangana are likely to increase gradually by 2°C to 4°C over the next four days.
Hyderabad is expected to witness temperatures between 38°C and 43°C during the coming week.
The Meteorological Department has issued rain, thunderstorm, lightning, and heatwave warnings for Telangana for the next three days. While isolated rainfall and gusty winds are expected in several districts, temperatures are also likely to rise by up to 4°C, with heatwave conditions forecast in parts of North Telangana.
