Telangana Weather Alert: Thunderstorms, Rain and Heat Wave Likely Across State till May 20

Telangana weather update: IMD predicts thunderstorms, rain, lightning and strong winds across Telangana for the next three days, along with possible heat wave conditions from May 16 to 20. Adilabad recorded 43.5°C.

The Meteorological Department on Wednesday issued a weather alert stating that several places across Telangana are likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kmph during the next three days. The department also warned that heat wave conditions are likely in some parts of the state from May 16 to May 20, while dry weather is expected across Telangana from May 17 onwards.

Thunderstorms and Rain Forecast in Telangana

According to the daily report issued by the Meteorological Department in Hyderabad on May 14, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at a few places across the state during the coming days.

The department stated that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds ranging between 30 and 40 kilometres per hour are likely to occur at isolated places in Telangana over the next three days.

Temperature Likely to Rise by 2 to 3 Degrees Celsius

The weather report further said that the maximum temperature across Telangana is likely to gradually increase by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius during the next three days.

Officials also predicted that heat wave conditions may prevail in some specific areas of Telangana between May 16 and May 20.

Dry Weather Expected From May 17

The Meteorological Department said that weather conditions across the state are expected to remain mainly dry from May 17 to May 20 despite the possibility of thunderstorms and rain during the initial three-day period.

Rainfall and Highest Temperature Recorded

As per the report, rainfall was recorded at one or two places in the state during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the highest maximum temperature in Telangana was recorded in Adilabad at 43.5 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has warned that Telangana may witness thunderstorms, lightning, rain and strong winds over the next three days, while heat wave conditions are also likely in selected areas between May 16 and May 20. The department said temperatures may rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius, and dry weather is expected across the state from May 17 onwards. Adilabad recorded the highest temperature in the state at 43.5 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours.
