Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla urges citizens to conserve fuel, reduce vehicle usage and safeguard foreign exchange while proposing a Nasha Mukt Telangana campaign.

Shiv Pratap Shukla appealed to citizens to conserve fuel and safeguard foreign exchange in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to the nation. In a video message released by Lok Bhavan on May 14, the Telangana Governor said vehicle usage at Lok Bhavan has been reduced by 50 per cent and urged government departments, political leaders and citizens to minimise fuel consumption.

Governor Calls for Fuel Conservation and Reduced Vehicle Usage

The Governor said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set an example by reducing the number of vehicles in his convoy despite security concerns.

Shiv Pratap Shukla stated that after assuming office as Governor of Telangana, he also reduced vehicle usage and recently directed that vehicle usage at Lok Bhavan be cut by 50 per cent.

He said he would request the Chief Minister to instruct ministers and officials to minimise vehicle usage in government departments.

The Governor also appealed to political leaders to avoid excessive convoys.

Governor Highlights Global Energy Crisis

Shukla pointed to the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran and said the global energy crisis has increased the need to reduce dependence on petro-dollars.

He stressed the importance of conserving foreign exchange and protecting the value of the national currency.

The Governor said:

“Just as the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Defence Minister have set an example, public representatives too must follow suit. Only then will awareness spread among the people.”

He added that every possible effort should be made to prevent foreign exchange from flowing out of the country.

Call for ‘Nasha Mukt Telangana’ Campaign

The Governor also emphasized the need to intensify the fight against narcotics.

Recalling his anti-drug campaign in Himachal Pradesh, he said the initiative had reached grassroots levels and suggested launching a similar “Nasha Mukt Telangana” campaign in the state.

Proposal for Anti-Drug Pledge in Educational Institutions

Shiv Pratap Shukla suggested that schools, colleges and universities should include a pledge in admission forms.

According to the proposal, students would commit:

  • To stay away from drugs
  • To encourage others to avoid narcotics

The Governor said youth can deliver a powerful social message through such initiatives.

Governor Praises Media’s Role

The Governor highlighted the important role played by the media in the success of anti-drug campaigns in Himachal Pradesh.

He expressed confidence that media cooperation in Telangana would also help achieve positive results in awareness campaigns.
