Hyderabad Fake Police Case: Meerpet Police Remand Six Accused in Rs 1.60 Lakh Rice Lorry Extortion
Meerpet Police remanded six accused in Hyderabad pseudo police extortion case involving fake SOT officers, Rs 1.60 lakh demand, seizure of cash, mobile phones, and Polo car.

Hyderabad: Meerpet Police on May 19, 2026 remanded six accused persons in a fake police extortion case registered as Cr.No.652/2026 under Sections 308(2), 318(4), 319(2), 61(2)(a) BNS of PS Meerpet, Hyderabad City. The accused allegedly pretended to be SOT officers, stopped a rice lorry near Patancheru ORR Exit No. 03, and demanded Rs. 6 lakhs from a rice businessman before settling the matter for Rs. 1,60,000/-. One accused is still absconding.

Six Accused Sent to Judicial Remand
According to Meerpet Police, the following accused were sent to judicial remand by the Hon’ble court:

Police said accused A1, A2, A3, A4, A6 and A7 were produced before the Hon’ble court and remanded to judicial custody.
One Accused Still Absconding
Meerpet Police stated that A5-Anand is absconding. Police are continuing efforts to trace him.
How the Fake Police Extortion Happened
The case was registered based on a complaint received on May 18, 2026 at 20:30 hours from:
- Mohammed Afroz
- S/o Md Fayaz
- Age: 24 years
- Occupation: Rice business
- Caste: Muslim
- Resident near Bala Garden, Balapur Mandal, RR District
- Native of Subashgunj, Zaheerabad
- Phone numbers: 9666877867, 9396511110
Police said Mohammed Afroz has been running a rice business for the past two years.
On May 18, 2026 at around 03:30 hours, his driver Anil Kumar was travelling towards Udgir, Maharashtra, with a rice load in lorry number KA56 7525.
When the lorry reached near Patancheru ORR Exit No. 03, four persons in a car bearing number AP09BZ8253 allegedly stopped the vehicle and introduced themselves as SOT officers.
The accused allegedly threatened the driver, saying the rice being transported was illegal.
Rs 6 Lakh Demand Reduced to Rs 1.60 Lakh
According to police, the driver contacted Mohammed Afroz over the phone. One of the accused allegedly spoke to him and demanded Rs. 6 lakhs.
Later, the accused allegedly agreed to settle the matter for Rs. 1,60,000/-.
Initially, Mohammed Afroz transferred Rs. 80,000/- through PhonePe transactions:
- Rs. 50,000/- from friend Govind’s PhonePe number: 7760352890
- Rs. 30,000/- from Patel Saab’s PhonePe number: 7892760055
The money was sent to Shiva Reddy’s PhonePe number: 6305969064.
Police said the accused later demanded more money.
Complainant Found They Were Not Real SOT Officers
Mohammed Afroz later checked about the accused and came to know they were not real SOT officers.
After about one hour, Shiva Reddy allegedly called him and sent a location near TKR College, Meerpet.
When the complainant reached the spot and questioned them, one unknown person introduced himself as Anil and acted according to Shiva Reddy’s instructions before escaping from the place.
The complainant then approached police and requested legal action.

- Seven mobile phones
- One Polo car bearing number AP09BZ8352
