Saharanpur: Hindu groups in Uttar Pradesh have claimed that a Shiv temple exists 14 feet beneath the mosque of Darul Uloom Deoband in Deoband, Saharanpur district.

According to the claims made by the groups, the prominent Islamic seminary was earlier known as “Dev Van” or “forest of the deities,” where a Shiv temple allegedly existed.

A memorandum regarding the matter was submitted to the District Magistrate in Saharanpur.

The groups alleged that the area where Darul Uloom Deoband currently stands was once called “Dev Van.”

They further claimed that a Shiv temple existed at the site before the establishment of the Islamic seminary.
