Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 438 drunk driving cases during a two-day special drive conducted on May 22 and May 23, 2026, to ensure road safety in the city. According to the police, most of the violators were two-wheeler riders. The Hyderabad Traffic Police stated that there will be zero tolerance towards drunk driving violations and the special drive will continue.

Hyderabad Traffic Police Conduct Special Drunk Driving Drive
According to a press note issued on May 24, 2026, the Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a special drive against drunken driving on 22-05-2026 and 23-05-2026.
The drive was carried out to ensure road safety across Hyderabad.
During the special drive, police caught a total of 438 drivers driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
Breakdown of Drunk Driving Cases
Police provided the category-wise breakup of the violators booked during the drive:
- 365 were two-wheeler riders
- 25 were three-wheeler drivers
- 47 were four-wheeler drivers
- 01 was categorized under other vehicle drivers
BAC Levels Recorded by Hyderabad Traffic Police
The Hyderabad Traffic Police also released details of Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) levels recorded during the special drive.
The BAC-wise cases booked are as follows:
- BAC level 30-50: 98 cases
- BAC level 51-100: 191 cases
- BAC level 101-150: 83 cases
- BAC level 151-200: 42 cases
- BAC level 201-250: 13 cases
- BAC level 251-300: 6 cases
- BAC level above 300: 5 cases
Hyderabad Traffic Police Warn of Zero Tolerance
The Hyderabad Traffic Police stated that there will be zero tolerance towards drunk driving violations.
Police further said the special enforcement drive against drunken driving will continue in the city.
Commuters have been requested to cooperate with the Hyderabad Traffic Police during the ongoing enforcement operations.
