Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar Orders Quick Resolution of Ambedkar, Phule and Jagjivan Ram Statue Installation Issues

Telangana Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar directed officials to resolve issues related to Ambedkar, Phule and Jagjivan Ram statue installations and avoid unnecessary cases against Dalit leaders.

Telangana Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar has directed officials to resolve issues related to the installation of statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram at the earliest. The Minister issued the instructions during a high-level review meeting held at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat on Friday afternoon to discuss problems being faced in the installation of statues in Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Ranga Reddy districts.

The Minister emphasized that statue installations should not face unnecessary delays and that officials, police and local authorities must work in coordination to resolve pending issues. The review meeting was attended by senior officials and representatives of Dalit organizations.

Statues Represent Social Awareness and Constitutional Values

Speaking at the meeting, Adluri Laxman Kumar said that statues of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Babu Jagjivan Ram are not merely sculptures but symbols of social awareness, self-respect and constitutional values.

He stated that the Telangana Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is strongly committed to the social, economic and educational development of Dalits, Tribals and Backward Classes.

The Minister said that providing a dignified place in society to marginalized communities remains one of the primary objectives of the Congress government.

Dalit Organizations Raise Concerns Over Delays and Permissions

During the review meeting, representatives of Dalit organizations, youth groups and public organizations brought several issues to the notice of the Minister.

These included:

  • Land-related issues for statue installations
  • Delays in permissions
  • Objections arising at the local level
  • Police permissions
  • Revenue-related issues

The Minister responded by stating that the installation of statues plays a crucial role in taking the ideals of great leaders to the youth at the grassroots level.

He advised officials to act responsibly in matters connected to public sentiments.

Minister Refers to Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra

Adluri Laxman Kumar said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra undertaken by Rahul Gandhi was aimed at promoting social unity, protection of the Constitution and social justice.

He stated that the yatra reflected the inspiration of carrying forward the ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Babu Jagjivan Ram.

The Minister further said that equality, fraternity and protection of rights form the foundation of the Congress party’s ideology.

Officials Directed to Work in Coordination

The Minister instructed Collectors, Revenue officials, GHMC and Police departments to work in coordination so that there are no unnecessary delays in statue installations.

He advised officials to resolve field-level issues legally and amicably.

The Minister also instructed authorities to issue clear notices in advance if a proposed site does not comply with rules and regulations. He warned that raising objections at the last minute could lead to tense situations.

Officials were directed to discuss issues with public representatives, local leaders and Dalit organizations and take preventive measures in advance.

Minister Opposes Unnecessary Cases Against Dalit Leaders

Adluri Laxman Kumar stated that it is not appropriate to register unnecessary cases against leaders of Dalit organizations.

He instructed officials to focus primarily on resolving issues while also maintaining law and order and respecting public sentiments.

The Minister said that any controversial situation arising anywhere should be immediately brought to the notice of the government.

He reiterated that the government is committed to constitutional values and that there will be no compromise in protecting the ideals of great leaders.

According to the Minister, the constitutional path shown by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the concept of social equality advocated by Mahatma Phule and the democratic spirit promoted by Babu Jagjivan Ram serve as guiding principles for the state government.
