HYDERABAD: Telangana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has directed officials to take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure that people do not face difficulties during the monsoon season, as heavy rains are expected across the state from June 19.

The Minister emphasized that preventing the impact of natural disasters through advance planning is more important than responding after calamities occur. In view of weather forecasts predicting intensified rainfall across Telangana, he instructed the Revenue and Disaster Management machinery to remain on full alert from the state level to the village level.
Disaster Management Machinery Asked to Remain Fully Prepared
Following the directions of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Minister instructed officials to keep the Revenue and Disaster Management departments fully prepared to handle any emergency arising from heavy rains.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said all authorities should act proactively and take preventive measures based on weather forecasts to minimize risks to people and property.
Weather Department Forecasts Week-Long Rainfall Spell
The Minister noted that the southwest monsoon is rapidly advancing and is expected to cover the entire state within the next three to four days.
According to estimates from the Meteorological Department, rainfall activity is expected to intensify across Telangana from June 19 and may continue for about a week.
In view of these forecasts and weather warnings, the Minister reviewed the situation with officials on Monday and issued instructions to alert all districts across the state.
Southwest Monsoon Progress in Telangana
The Minister stated that the southwest monsoon entered South Telangana on June 8 and initially covered Jogulamba Gadwal district.
At present, the northern limit of the monsoon extends through Hyderabad and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.
By June 14, the monsoon had covered all districts of South Telangana and most districts of Central Telangana.
Rainfall Deficit Recorded So Far
The Minister said Telangana recorded 49.2 millimetres of rainfall between June 1 and June 14.
Compared to the normal rainfall of 54.9 millimetres, the state is currently experiencing a rainfall deficit of approximately 10 percent.
Collectors Directed to Monitor Weather Alerts Continuously
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy instructed District Collectors, Revenue officials and Disaster Management personnel to continuously monitor warnings issued by the Meteorological Department.
He directed officials to maintain constant coordination and identify areas that could experience intense rainfall so that necessary protective measures can be taken in advance.
Public Safety Top Priority, Says Minister
The Minister stated that protecting people’s lives and property remains the government’s highest priority.
He said the government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is giving utmost importance to public safety and disaster preparedness.
The Minister further directed all district officials to remain vigilant throughout the monsoon season and ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience due to rain-related incidents.
