GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan Reviews Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls, Warns Non-Submission May Exclude Voters from Draft Roll

GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan reviewed the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Hyderabad and said voters who do not submit enumeration forms may not be included in the draft electoral roll.

Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO) Sri R.V. Karnan, IAS, along with Dr. Priyanka Ala, IAS, District Collector, Hyderabad, and Kum K. Chandrakala, Additional Commissioner (Election), conducted a review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls with representatives of all recognised political parties at the GHMC Head Office meeting hall. During the meeting, officials explained the revision process, sought cooperation from political parties, and stated that voters who do not submit enumeration forms may not have their names included in the draft electoral roll.

GHMC Holds Special Intensive Revision Meeting with Political Parties

The review meeting on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was chaired by Sri R.V. Karnan, IAS, Commissioner, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and District Election Officer (DEO).

The meeting was attended by representatives of all recognised political parties.

Also present were:

  • Dr. Priyanka Ala, IAS, District Collector, Hyderabad
  • Kum K. Chandrakala, Additional Commissioner (Election)

The meeting was held at the GHMC Head Office meeting hall.

Commissioner Explains Special Intensive Revision Process

During the meeting, the Commissioner provided detailed information regarding the Special Intensive Revision process.

He emphasised the importance of ensuring:

  • A transparent electoral roll
  • An inclusive electoral roll
  • An error-free electoral roll

Officials explained various aspects of the revision exercise to the representatives of recognised political parties.

Enumeration Forms to Be Distributed in English

The Commissioner informed the meeting that enumeration forms would be distributed to all eligible voters in English.

According to officials, the decision is intended to facilitate:

  • Easy understanding
  • Accurate submission of voter details

The forms are part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision process.

Political Parties Asked to Cooperate with Booth Level Officers

The Commissioner appealed to representatives of political parties to extend full cooperation to Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

He requested that the duties of BLOs should not be obstructed in any manner during the electoral roll revision process.

The Commissioner also requested political parties to ensure that duly filled enumeration forms are submitted within the stipulated timeframe.

Non-Submission of Forms May Affect Inclusion in Draft Electoral Roll

During the meeting, the Commissioner clarified that voters who do not submit the enumeration forms may not have their names included in the draft electoral roll.

The statement was made while explaining the importance of timely participation in the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
