New Delhi: Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra met Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, amid demands by Opposition party leaders to sack Mishra.

Mishra’s son was allegedly involved in the Lakhimpur incident where four farmers were run over by vehicles, including one that belonged to the minister.

Samyuk Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body under which hundreds of farmer groups are protesting against the farm laws, and several Opposition leaders have demanded that the minister be sacked.

Four farmers were crushed to death by the cars belonging to the convoy of Ajay Mishra, after a protest against his visit to Lakhimpur was held by farmers on Sunday. Farmer groups have alleged Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish was in the car that ran over farmers, and an FIR has been registered against him.

Four people who were part of the convoy were also allegedly lynched by angry farmers, and two cars were set on fire.

The Minister has said his son was not present at the spot, and Ashish Mishra has also made the same claim.
