Four members of a family committed suicide by consuming poison unable to bear debts here in the Anakapalli district on Friday.

Anakapalli: Four members of a family committed suicide by consuming poison unable to bear debts here in the Anakapalli district on Friday.

Police said that five members of a family including a couple and their three daughters consumed potassium cyanide of which four of them died.

The deceased were identified as Shivarama Krishna (40), his wife Madhavi (38), and his daughters Vyshnavi (16) and Lakshmi (13). The couple’s younger daughter Kusumapriya, who also consumed cyanide, is undergoing treatment in the GGH.

Police said that the family, debt-ridden and unable to bear the pressure from the money lenders, took the extreme step. The police registered a case and shifted the bodies to the GGH.
