Hyderabad: In a major investment boost, BASF has announced plans to set up two Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in Hyderabad, expected to create around 3,000 new jobs. The company submitted a Letter of Intent (LoI) to the Telangana State Government for establishing a Global Digital Hub and a Global Services Hub. The development is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to position Hyderabad as a global innovation hub.

BASF, one of the world’s largest chemical manufacturers, has proposed setting up:
- A Global Digital Hub
- A Global Services Hub
These two GCCs in Hyderabad are expected to generate approximately 3,000 jobs, strengthening the city’s position as a major IT and services destination.
The Letter of Intent (LoI) was handed over by Tobias Dratt to Sarvesh Singh.

Telangana Government Push for 100 GCCs Annually
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said that the Telangana government aims to establish 100 GCCs annually, which are expected to generate employment for around one lakh IT professionals.
He stated that Hyderabad is being developed not just as an office hub but as a global center for innovation and engineering.
Hyderabad’s Vision: AI City, Quantum Hub and More
As part of the state’s long-term vision, several major initiatives are being developed:
- AIKAM
- Young India Skills University
- A 200-acre AI City
- A Quantum Hub
- A life sciences research facility One Bio Lab
These initiatives aim to transform Hyderabad into a global technology and research destination.
BASF Global Presence and Investment Significance
Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted BASF’s global stature:
- Founded over 160 years ago
- Operates in more than 200 countries
- Has 234 production facilities
- Employs over 1,08,000 employees worldwide
- Annual revenue of nearly ₹5 lakh crore (around $60 billion)
He said that Hyderabad securing this investment against global competition is a matter of pride for Telangana.
Global Companies Already Operating GCCs in Hyderabad
The Minister added that several global companies have already established GCCs in Hyderabad, including:
- NVIDIA
- Microsoft
- Vanguard
- Eli Lilly
- Marriott International
These investments have strengthened Hyderabad’s global reputation as a GCC destination.
