The last date for withdrawal of nominations is April 9. Polling will take place on April 23, and counting will occur on April 25. The current MLC, M. S. Potential Political Alliances and Contenders
The ruling Congress party is expected to back an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidate, although the party, led by Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, has yet to announce its nominee. The electorate for the Hyderabad LAC consists of 110 voters, including corporators, MLAs, and MPs. AIMIM holds the majority with 49 votes, followed by BRS with 25 and Congress with 14. The remaining votes are held by the BJP.
It remains uncertain whether the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the main opposition party, will field a candidate for this election. The BRS had also abstained from contesting in the recent MLC elections for Graduate and Teachers’ constituencies, where the BJP successfully secured two out of three seats.
Recent MLC Elections
In the previous month, five MLC vacancies from the MLA quota were filled unopposed. Congress candidates, along with one from its ally, the Communist Party of India (CPI), and one from BRS, were elected unanimously.
