Celebrations in Manipur after election of Draupadi as President

of Draupadi Murmu as the 15th President of India.

Speaking on the occasion, Biren said , “Heartiest congratulations to Draupadi Murmu on being elected as the President of India. For the first time in our history, a tribal woman has become the President of India. It is undoubtedly a historic day, especially for the North-East which has a large tribal population.”
He added, “In a year when the Nation is observing the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, we are immensely proud that the highest office of this land will be occupied by a self-made woman who belongs to a tribal community.”
