Controversy Erupts Over Islamic Lessons in School Diary; Police Launch Investigation

According to the student's relative, Supriya Goud, she noticed entries in the child's school diary instructing the student to "recite the Kalima," study "Deeniyat," and complete other religion-related assignments as part of the homework.

Hyderabad: A controversy has surfaced after allegations emerged that Islamic lessons were entered in the homework diary of a school student in Hyderabad, prompting local police to initiate an investigation into the matter.

According to the student’s relative, Supriya Goud, she noticed entries in the child’s school diary instructing the student to “recite the Kalima,” study “Deeniyat,” and complete other religion-related assignments as part of the homework.

Goud alleged that the school administration was compelling students to study Islamic teachings and presenting the subject as mandatory. She claimed that such practices amounted to an attempt to influence young minds and stated that she would also raise the issue with senior officials of the Education Department.

However, the school management rejected the allegations and clarified that Deeniyat is a subject exclusively meant for Muslim students. According to the administration, a teacher inadvertently made an error while writing the homework, resulting in the instructions being mistakenly entered in the diary of a student for whom the subject was not intended.

Meanwhile, a complaint regarding the incident has been lodged at the local police station. Police officials confirmed that an inquiry is underway and that all facts surrounding the matter are being verified.

Authorities stated that any further legal action, if required, would be decided only after the investigation is completed. As of now, neither the police nor the Education Department has officially confirmed any of the allegations, and officials have urged the public to wait for the outcome of the inquiry before drawing conclusions.
