Electric Cables Stolen from Hyderabad Cycle Track; Streetlights Out for 10 Days

According to officials, cyclists using the route from Kokapet to Kollur noticed that the streetlights had not been functioning for several days and lodged complaints with the concerned authorities.

Hyderabad: Electricity cables have reportedly been stolen from the Hyderabad Cycle Track, leaving a stretch of the route without street lighting for nearly 10 days, prompting safety concerns among cyclists.

According to officials, cyclists using the route from Kokapet to Kollur noticed that the streetlights had not been functioning for several days and lodged complaints with the concerned authorities.

Following the complaints, officials conducted an inspection of the cycle track and found that the underground electrical cables supplying power to the streetlights had been stolen.

The authorities have lodged a formal complaint with the Narsingi Police, who have registered the matter and launched an investigation to identify those responsible for the theft.

The prolonged outage of streetlights had raised concerns over the safety of cyclists and pedestrians using the track during early morning and evening hours. Officials said efforts are underway to restore the lighting system after completing the necessary repairs and replacing the stolen cables.

Police are also examining the area for evidence and reviewing available CCTV footage to trace the culprits.
