Ex-MP Harsha Kumar opposes APCC chief’s post to YS Sharmila
However, some party leaders were arguing that Sharmila should not be given the post of the State party president. Harsha Kumar, a rebel in the AP Congress and a former MP, openly opposed it.
Rajahmundry: It is a known fact that the post of Andhra Pradesh PCC chief is likely to be given to party leader YS Sharmila, who recently joined the party.
According to informed sources, the Congress high command had given a word to her at the time of joining the party. However, some party leaders were arguing that Sharmila should not be given the post of the State party president. Harsha Kumar, a rebel in the AP Congress and a former MP, openly opposed it.
“Sharmila hails from Telangana. She has nothing to do with Andhra Pradesh. It is not right to hand over the reins of the party here to her. As she is the daughter-in-law of Telangana, don’t give her the responsibility of AP Congress president,” Harsha Kumar said. The other party leaders and the Congress high command are yet to respond on his remarks.
Harsha Kumar was claiming that Dalits are ready to oust CM YS Jagan in Andhra Pradesh. He said ‘Dalit Simha Garjana’ will be held in Rajahmundry on February 8.
He recalled that the attacks on Dalits had increased during the YSRCP regime in the State and added that cases had been registered while noting that no one has been given justice.
He said he would contest from Amalapuram Lok Sabha seat in the next elections.
Party Gidugu Rudraraju is currently the APCC chief. After the formation of Telangana State in 2014, the influence of the Congress in AP has reduced completely.
It did not win a single assembly or Lok Sabha seat. The Congress high command has fielded Sharmila to bring back the party’s glory in the next elections in the State. No announcement has been made on the post so far.
