The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Tuesday organised a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) help desk at the High Court to assist voters with the electoral roll revision process, following the instructions of DEO & GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan. Meanwhile, tension prevailed near the Telangana Secretariat as Left-affiliated student unions staged a “Chalo Secretariat” protest demanding the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement and scholarship arrears, leading to police detentions and minor injuries during a scuffle.

GHMC Organises SIR Help Desk at Hyderabad High Court
As per the instructions of DEO & GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) help desk was organised at the High Court in Hyderabad on Tuesday to facilitate voters in the electoral roll revision process.
The programme was attended by:
- High Court Registrar Sridher Rao
- High Court Registrar Goverdhan Reddy
- High Court Registrar Srinivas Reddy
During the event, GHMC Additional Commissioner (Elections) Chandrakala and Deputy Commissioner (Charminar Zone) Sarita explained the process of submitting enumeration forms through both online and offline modes.
They also guided officials and voters on voter mapping and addressed queries related to the SIR process.
The help desk successfully assisted in the 2002 voter mapping and verification of voters, ensuring smooth and accurate electoral roll updation.
Left Student Unions Stage ‘Chalo Secretariat’ Protest
Tension prevailed near the Telangana Secretariat on Tuesday as Left-affiliated student unions organised a “Chalo Secretariat” protest demanding the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement and scholarship arrears.
Police erected barricades to stop the march, resulting in heated confrontations between protesters and the police.
According to the report:
- Several student leaders and activists were detained.
- Some students reportedly sustained minor injuries during the scuffle.
- Preventive arrests were carried out in several districts to prevent participation in the protest.
Student Unions Raise Allegations
Leaders of the following organisations participated in the protest:
- AISF
- SFI
- AIFDS
- PDSU
- AISB
- AIPSU
The student leaders alleged that lakhs of economically weaker students were on the verge of discontinuing their education due to delays in fee reimbursements and scholarships.
They further alleged that educational institutions were withholding students’ certificates over unpaid fees and accused the state government of failing to address students’ concerns.
The leaders demanded the immediate release of Rs.11,000 crore in pending fee reimbursements and scholarships. They warned that statewide protests would be intensified if the government failed to clear the dues.
According to the report, those detained during the protest were later shifted to various police stations.
