Human chain against K-Rail on August 15 in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) will form a ‘human chain’ on August 15 in protest against the proposed K-Rail Project by the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala, the party announced on Saturday. Talking to newspersons here, UDF convenor MM Hassan said the human chain will be formed between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod covering all places where land is to be acquired for the project. A decision on strengthening the ongoing agitation against the K-Rail Project was taken by the UDF high power committee, he added. The UDF will also observe the first anniversary of the Pinarayi Vijayan-led Left Government as the ‘Anniversary of Destruction of Development,’ he announced. He alleged that the Left Government is planning to celebrate its first anniversary by spending Rs 100 crore from Plan and Non Plan Funds. This also to be noted that LDF had organised a 620-km-long human chain from the northern part of Kerala to the south on Republic Day in 2020 demanding withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act.
