Hyderabad: “Don’t want a Muslim delivery person” instructs Swiggy customer

‘Mazhab Nahi Sikhata Aapas Mein Bair Rakhna.’

Hyderabad: Polarisation in the country has reached an alarming level. It is sad to note that hostilities on religious lines have reached Hyderabad, the city famous for its Ganga Jamni tahzeeb, too.

In one such incident a bigoted customer told Swiggy delivery app that he doesn’t want a Muslim delivery person. The instruction was written under the section ‘How to Reach’ which read “Don’t want a Muslim delivery person”.

A screengrab of the instruction left by a customer using the popular food delivery app Swiggy was shared on twitter on Tuesday, by Shaik Salauddin, chairman of the Telangana State Taxi and Drivers JAC.

He wrote: “Dear @Swiggy please take a stand against such a bigoted request. We (Delivery workers) are here to deliver food to one and all, be it Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh @Swiggy @TGPWU Mazhab Nahi Sikhata Aapas Mein Bair Rakhna #SareJahanSeAchhaHindustanHamara”

Requesting Swiggy to take an appropriate stand against such a blatantly bigoted customer, Salauddin quoted Allama Iqbal’s famous verse ‘Mazhab Nahi Sikhata Aapas Mein Bair Rakhna.’

The food aggregator is yet to respond to the incident.
