Mr. Revanth Reddy said that the remark was deliberate and preplanned to garner political mileage

Hyderabad: Based on the complaint lodged by Malkajgiri MP and Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Anumula Revanth Reddy, Hyderabad Police on Wednesday registered a case against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Sarma had made derogatory remarks against Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi.

While registering a case against Mr. Sarma under Sections 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 505(2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) of the Indian Penal Code, the Jubilee Hills police sought legal advice. The Hindu reported.

In his complaint, accusing the Assam Chief Minister of making an obscene speech against Rahul Gandhi at a public meeting in Uttarakhand, Mr. Revanth Reddy said that the remark was deliberate and preplanned to garner political mileage.

Hitting hit out at Mr Gandhi for asking for proof of surgical strikes conducted by India in Pakistani territory, Mr Sarma in his speech had questioned whether BJP has asked Congress leader if he is really Rajiv Gandhi’s son or not?

Mr Sarma’s remarks drew sharp criticism from Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, besides the Congress.
