In the wake of incessant rains that have been persisting in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India, the Hyderabad Police took proactive measures to ensure public safety. Commissioner of Police, CV Anand, shared a widely-circulated video on Twitter, emphasizing the importance of rain safety measures.
In the informative video, Hyderabad SI Gaddam Mallesh urged the public to be cautious and follow certain dos and don’ts during the upcoming days of heavy rainfall. He particularly highlighted the dangers of loitering around electric poles, advising parents to educate their children about this hazard.
Furthermore, those residing in mud and thatched roof houses were encouraged to temporarily relocate to safer places, as there was a risk of the old walls becoming saturated and collapsing due to the relentless downpour.
For commuters, the police officer advised sticking to familiar routes while avoiding new ones. This precaution was crucial because manholes might open up and overflow during the rains, posing potential dangers on unfamiliar paths.
Hyderabad SI Gaddam Mallesh also stressed the risks posed by strong winds, warning people not to stand near or under trees where branches could fall. In case of any emergency or concern, he urged citizens to promptly call the police at 100 for assistance.
The India Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert for various regions in Telangana, including Hyderabad, due to the continuous heavy rains. The city had already surpassed the deficient rainfall mark and entered the category of excess rainfall for July.
