Hyderabad Sees 24% Rise in Cybercrimes, Digital Fraud Targeting Educated Individuals, Says Police Commissioner

Speaking at the event organised on the occasion, CP said there were 36 types of cybercrimes in the State and added that Digital arrests had been a cause of concern in the recent past.

Hyderabad: City police commissioner CV Anand said today that Cybercrimes had increased by 24% this year. Minister Sreedhara Babu inaugurated a cyber security summit named ‘Hack 2.0’ in Hyderabad.

Speaking at the event organised on the occasion, CP said there were 36 types of cybercrimes in the State and added that Digital arrests had been a cause of concern in the recent past. He said it was the highly educated, who are trapped in the trap of criminals and are being cheated. “Recently, 28 cyber criminals were arrested in Rajasthan. They are accused in 243 cases across the country. There are 28 cases in Telangana alone.

He said Cyber criminals are committing crimes by sitting in far-flung areas. Going to other States and arresting them is a challenging task as the locals are resorting to attacks when they go to arrest them. The Telangana police are nabbing cyber criminals amidst a lot of challenges. This year, we have returned Rs 35.8 crore to the victims,” said CP CV Anand.
