Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court, exercising suo-motu action in the public interest, has issued directives to the concerned officials regarding the construction of a temple while seizing Children’s Park and Playground in Adilabad.
Letters written by 23 children highlighted the ongoing construction of a temple by encroaching upon Children’s Park and Playground in Adilabad.
The letters from the children stated that the Old Housing Board Colony, which began in the 1970s in the heart of Adilabad city, was intended to uplift the poor sections of society.
Half an acre of land in this colony was allocated for Children’s Park and Playground. Some offenders seized and constructed a temple on about 30 guntas of land in 2000-04. The children mentioned in their letters that a few months ago, the remaining land was also seized by Ledger Abbas, starting the construction of another temple.
Local elders approached the relevant officials, but no action was taken, and no stoppage was imposed on the illegal temple construction. Municipal Commissioner Adilabad is accused of aiding in illegal seizure.
After a detailed study of this letter, the Division Bench of the High Court, comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Anil Kumar Jokhenti, directed the concerned officials to submit an action report for future proceedings.
