Kishan Reddy Criticizes TRS Govt for Raking up Paddy Procurement Issue
Talking to newsmen at state BJP headquarters here, Mr Reddy said that there was no issue from the Centre on procurement of paddy in the state.
Hyderabad: Union Minister of Tourism and Culture G Kishan Reddy on Monday criticized the TRS Government for raking up the paddy procurement issue and said it is only to divert the attention of people and farmers in the state due to defeat in the Huzurabad Assembly byelection held on October 30.
Talking to newsmen at state BJP headquarters here, Mr Reddy said that there was no issue from the Centre on procurement of paddy in the state.
The Centre’s objection is only on boiled rice because there is no demand in the country. However, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wantedly raised the issue of paddy procurement and held a Maha Dharna at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park here few days ago.
The Minister alleged that the TRS Government had utilized all the tactics and distributed money in the Huzurabad bypoll but the people gave their clear mandate in favour of BJP.
Not able to digest the defeat, the Chief Minister raked up the paddy procurement issue. Everybody knows about this in the state, he said.
Reacting to the announcement of Rs 3 lakh each ex-gratia by the TRS government to the farmers, who died during the year-long agitation against three farm laws, Mr Reddy said that we are not opposing it. But what about the farmers who died in Telangana, he questioned.
While providing the list of the farmers who died in the state as per official record, in 2016 it is (648), 2017 (851), 2018 (908), 2019 (449), 2020 (471) he said it was the prime responsibility of the state government to extend its support to them.
How much compensation the government gave to the kin of farmers, he asked.
Mr Reddy said the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not given any orders to stop procurement of paddy. But the TRS government has created non-issue as an issue only to divert the issue of defeat in the Huzurabad byelection.
Speaking on reservation for Scheduled Castes, the Union Minister said that as per the Constitution, the state government can take a decision according to their population. There is no need to take permission from the Centre, he clarified.
