The Meerut police have apprehended a 38-year-old Muslim man named Gulloo, who had been living in a temple disguised as a sadhu for several months. He hails from Gadhri village in Panipat, Haryana, and is now facing criminal charges.
The incident came to the authorities’ attention when they received a tip-off about a person of the Muslim community residing near the Shiv temple on NH-58 in Matur village, masquerading as a sadhu. Responding promptly, the police reached the location and discovered a man dressed in sadhu attire near the temple premises.
Investigations revealed that Gulloo had been living near the temple since January 2023, successfully concealing his true identity from the local residents. The motive behind his actions and the reason for choosing to live in disguise are currently under scrutiny.
SI Abhishek Patel from the Daurala Police Station confirmed that Gulloo is indeed a Muslim. However, his criminal history remains undisclosed at this point. It has come to light that Gulloo is married, although his wife does not reside with him.
Currently, the accused is in police custody, and further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
