Niranjan Reddy laid Foundation for Construction of Tissue Culture Laboratory

The minister said that the lab would be useful as a primary and basic facility for the production of all types of plants. He said the construction and setting up infrastructure for the lab would be completed within the next 9 months. 

Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Agriculture Singireddy Niranjan Reddy has laid the foundation stone for the construction of tissue culture laboratory near Jeedimetla Center of Excellence with the estimated cost of Rs. 4.2 crore, today. 

Speaking on this occasion, he said that the State is moving towards the new revolution in plant breeding, production and reproduction, as part of this, a tissue culture lab is being set up in the state. He said, seed, fruit, medicinal herbs, spice, forest, ornamental and all kinds of plants are produced by tissue culture.  

The minister said that the lab would be useful as a primary and basic facility for the production of all types of plants. He said, in the present days is this is for great change. He said the construction and setting up infrastructure for the lab would be completed within the next 9 months. 

He expressed hope that this would technically enhance Telangana’s reputation in the agricultural sector. He said the market demand for tissue culture plants would increase rapidly. The Minister suggested the forest department to make arrangements to provide sandalwood and teak plants to the farmers.

Minister for Labour, Malla Reddy, MLA Vivekananda Gowda, Secretary to Union Ministry of Agriculture Vijayalakshmi, Seed Development Corporation MD Keshavulu and others were present.
