Owaisi Demands Full Parliamentary Debate on ‘China-India’ Ties

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Owaisi said that an all party delegation of MPs should be taken to the contentious border areas as well. This will allow us to reassert our sovereignty and keep the public informed.

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday demanded a full parliamentary debate on ‘ China-India’ ties and the state of affairs on the border.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Mr Owaisi said that an all party delegation of MPs should be taken to the contentious border areas as well. This will allow us to reassert our sovereignty and keep the public informed. If required, a ‘secret sitting of the House’ can be conducted under Lok Sabha rule 248, he said.

Modi’s strategy of silence, denial and obfuscation on #China is self-defeating. It sends a message of weakness to Beijing, he said, adding that to our allies, it conveys our inability to confront the truth.

Alleging that the BJP-led NDA government is weakening us internally by polarizing and dividing Indians, the Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP said this divisiveness domestically has come at the cost of our relations in the neighborhood, where China has been making gains.

Before 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi used to say that the problem is not on the borders but it is in Delhi, Mr Owaisi said.

Mr Modi used to talk a lot about National Security but now he doesn’t even utter China’s name. Kya Hau ? Why this hesitation, he asked.
