Ramadan 2024 Moon Sighted in Saudi Arabia

In a joyous announcement, the crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan has been sighted in Saudi Arabia. This auspicious sighting signals the commencement of the holiest month in the Islamic calendar for millions around the world.

Hyderabad: Saudi Arabia officially announced the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan on Monday, March 11, after the crescent moon was sighted by the moon-sighting committee, as reported by local media outlets. This significant sighting signals the beginning of the month according to the Islamic Hijri calendar.

According to statements from the Saudi Supreme Court, the crescent was observed on Sunday evening, March 10, coinciding with the conclusion of the preceding month of Sha’ban.

In adherence to Islamic tradition, the length of each month in the Hijri calendar is determined by the sighting of the Moon, with months typically spanning either 29 or 30 days. With the sighting of the crescent this evening, Sha’ban concludes at 29 days, leading to the commencement of Ramadan on March 11.

As Muslims worldwide prepare for a month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual reflection, the declaration of Ramadan’s onset in Saudi Arabia marks a significant moment for the global Islamic community.
