Dharamsala: Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their place in the IPL playoffs with a commanding 23-run victory against Punjab Kings on Sunday in Dharamsala. Half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer, along with a crucial opening spell by pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, helped RCB register the important win and officially qualify for the IPL playoffs.

Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer Power RCB to 222/4
Virat Kohli played a fluent knock of 58 runs off 37 balls, while Venkatesh Iyer remained unbeaten on 73 runs off 40 deliveries.
Devdutt Padikkal also contributed 45 runs as Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced another dominant batting performance.
Kohli and Padikkal stitched together a 76-run partnership for the second wicket before Kohli added another 60 runs with Venkatesh Iyer for the third wicket.
For Punjab Kings, Harpreet Brar was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 35.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam Destroy Punjab Kings Top Order
Defending a target of 223, Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave RCB the perfect start by dismissing dangerous Punjab Kings openers Priyansh Arya for 0 and Prabhsimran Singh for 2.
Punjab Kings suffered another major setback when pacer Rasikh Salam dismissed skipper Shreyas Iyer for just 1 run in the fourth over.
The hosts slipped to 19 for 3 early in the innings.
Rasikh Salam finished with impressive figures of 3 for 36, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets for 38 runs.
Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis Fight Back for Punjab Kings
Despite the early collapse, Shashank Singh scored 56 runs off 27 balls and Marcus Stoinis added 37 runs from 25 balls in an attempt to revive the innings.
Cooper Connolly also scored 37, while Suryansh Shedge contributed 35 runs.
However, the huge RCB total eventually proved too difficult for Punjab Kings to chase.
