CM Revanth Reddy Government Investing in Students, Tribal Gurukul Institutions Become National Model: Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar

Tribal Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said the Revanth Reddy government is prioritizing education for SC, ST, BC, Minority and weaker sections. Telangana Tribal Gurukul institutions recorded 98.86% SSC results and are emerging as national models.

Hyderabad: Telangana Tribal Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar said that the Revanth Reddy government considers investment in students as an investment in the future of Telangana and is giving top priority to the education of SC, ST, BC, Minority and weaker sections. Speaking at the Academic Success Meet 2026 and “Janajatiya Garima Utsav – Birsa Lives in New Bharat” programme held at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan on Saturday, the minister highlighted the government’s initiatives, achievements of tribal educational institutions, and future plans for student welfare.

The event was organized as the annual success celebration of TGTWREIS, EMRS and Ashram Schools.

Education Is an Investment in Future Generations

Addressing the gathering, Adluri Laxman Kumar said that under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, the Telangana Government views education not as an expenditure but as the most valuable investment in future generations.

He said students studying in government educational institutions today would become a major force for the country’s economy, Telangana’s development, and the economic empowerment of families in the future.

The minister stated that the programme, being organized as part of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, was not merely a celebration of examination results but a symbol of confidence, determination, talent and empowerment among tribal students.

He said the struggles and ideals of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Komuram Bheem and Ramji Gond continue to inspire the younger generation.

Social Justice Through Education

Adluri Laxman Kumar emphasized that social justice in Telangana is not just a slogan and that empowering weaker sections through education is the government’s primary objective.

He stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy believes education is the most powerful weapon for eliminating poverty and that the government is committed to ensuring every poor student receives world-class opportunities.

The minister said when a student obtains higher education and secures employment, not just one family but an entire generation progresses. If thousands of students reach higher positions, the state’s economy becomes stronger. That is why the government is making large investments in the education sector, he added.

Telangana Tribal Gurukul Institutions Become a National Model

The minister said Telangana Tribal Gurukul institutions have emerged as model educational institutions across the country.

Providing quality free residential education to more than 82,000 students, these institutions are competing with corporate educational institutions in academic standards, he said.

Highlighting academic achievements, he noted:

  • SSC pass percentage: 98.86%
  • Institutions achieving 100% results: 56
  • Intermediate pass percentage: 86.53%

He also stated that students are performing exceptionally well in national-level entrance examinations such as JEE, NEET and EAPCET.

According to the minister, more than 2,500 tribal students have secured admissions in some of the country’s top educational institutions since 2014.

He credited these achievements to the hard work of students, dedication of teachers and trust of parents.

Proposal for Girls’ Sainik School in Dharmapuri

Adluri Laxman Kumar announced that proposals have been sent to the government for establishing a Sainik School and Degree College for tribal girls in the Dharmapuri constituency.

The proposed institution would provide integrated education from Class 6 to Degree level.

The minister expressed confidence that approval for the proposal would be granted soon.

Government Announces Benefits for Employees

The minister said the government has approved an increase in honorariums for 1,185 part-time employees working in tribal welfare educational institutions.

He stated that amendments have been made to increase promotion opportunities from Principal Grade-II to Grade-I from 70% to 100%.

Additional benefits approved by the government include:

  • ₹5,000 special monthly honorarium for In-charge Principals
  • Increased special allowance for Deputy Wardens
  • Additional incentive allowances for Vice Principals

Massive Funding for Infrastructure Development

The minister said the government is taking special measures to improve facilities in Gurukul institutions.

Key allocations include:

  • ₹72.83 crore for repair and maintenance works
  • ₹25 crore for establishing modern modular kitchens

He also stated that all educational institutions have obtained FSSAI “Eat Right” certification to ensure students receive quality and nutritious food.

Further, ₹565.32 crore has been released for Post-Matric Scholarships, benefiting thousands of tribal students.

Encouraging Research and Innovation

The minister said the government has entered into Memorandums of Understanding with several leading national institutions to connect students with global opportunities.

He stated that research, training and academic exchange programmes are being conducted in collaboration with CSIR-IICT.

In partnership with Gandhi Medical College and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the government is implementing the “Anemia Mukt Bharat” programme at a cost of ₹1.30 crore.

The initiative aims to help prevent anemia among students.

Students Encouraged to Dream Big

The minister urged tribal students to dream big regardless of their background.

He said students from tandas, gudems and remote villages have the ability to become IAS officers, IPS officers, doctors, engineers and scientists.

Their success, he said, would not only uplift their families but also contribute to the progress of society, the state and the nation.

During the event, renowned folk singer Narsayya (Nalgonda Gaddar) performed an Ambedkar song that greatly inspired the students.

Meritorious Students Honoured

Students from Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions who secured outstanding ranks in SSC (10th Class), Intermediate, IIT-JEE and NEET examinations and displayed exceptional talent were felicitated.

The ministers presented mementos, shawls and cash award cheques to the students in recognition of their achievements.
