Saudi Hospital Launches First Humanoid Robot Employee



The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Saudi Arabia has introduced its first humanoid robot staff member, named “Nour R1.” This robot is designed to provide advanced information and communication technology services to both employees and visitors, improving the overall experience within the hospital.

Nour R1 can effectively answer questions in both Arabic and English, marking a significant advancement in healthcare technology in the Kingdom. It is stationed in the Healthcare Information Technology Affairs wing and is capable of recognizing staff members’ faces. In the future, Nour R1 will take on additional roles such as wayfinding, addressing patient queries, and providing real-time updates on hospital events.

Dr. Osama Alswailem, the Chief Information Officer of KFSHRC, expressed confidence that Nour R1 will enhance services and streamline operations, allowing employees to focus on their core responsibilities.
