Seethakka Highlights Power of Education, Launches Anganwadi and Girls’ Empowerment Initiatives at Ranga Reddy Collectorate
Minister Seethakka participated in Women’s Week celebrations at the Ranga Reddy District Collectorate, highlighting education, girls’ empowerment, Anganwadi strengthening, ICDS services, and the Ammaku Aksharamala literacy programme.

Ranga Reddy District, Telangana: Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka participated as the chief guest in several events organized as part of Women’s Week celebrations at the Ranga Reddy District Collectorate in Kongara Kalan. The minister attended the Sneha Groups Mock Parliament, the “Ammaku Aksharamala” literacy programme, and the Anganwadi uniform distribution programme, emphasizing the importance of education, girls’ empowerment, and strengthening Anganwadi services.

Addressing the gathering, Seethakka said that education is the most powerful weapon to change the world and transform lives. She stated that even if a person loses everything in life, education can help them rebuild their future.
Seethakka Urges Girls to Aim for Leadership Roles
The minister encouraged girls to dream big and work towards becoming corporators, mayors, MLAs, and MPs.
Referring to a famous quote by Nelson Mandela that education has the power to change the world, Seethakka said that along with education, values and character are equally important in life. She advised students to respect parents and teachers, integrate with society, and grow into responsible citizens.
She said that through Sneha Groups, the government has formed more than 10,000 groups covering one lakh teenage girls across the state. These groups conduct special programmes focusing on safety, health, nutrition, education, and empowerment.
The minister advised girls not to become addicted to mobile phones and instead use them for education, personality development, and skill enhancement.
“Whether you get married or grow old, your education and knowledge will always remain with you,” she said, urging every girl to set a goal and work hard to achieve it.
Anganwadi Services Being Strengthened Across Telangana
Speaking at the Anganwadi uniform distribution programme, Seethakka recalled that the foundation of ICDS services in Telangana began in Mahabubnagar.
She noted that in 1975, then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi launched ICDS services to provide nutrition to children.
The minister said that under the leadership of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Praja Government is developing Anganwadi services as a model for the country.
She stated that Anganwadi centres are being further strengthened to meet the nutritional needs of children from pregnancy until the age of three years.
According to the minister:
- Uniforms, which were not provided in the past, are now being distributed.
- A total of 57 types of educational and play materials are being supplied.
- Through the “Tholi Mudda” programme, children are being provided breakfast, milk, eggs, and nutritious food.
“Private Schools Do Not Provide These Facilities”
Seethakka remarked that private nursery schools do not provide rice, milk, or eggs, whereas government Anganwadi centres offer all facilities necessary for the comprehensive development of children.
She stated, “There is no need for private nursery schools; Anganwadis are the better choice.”
The minister also distributed school entry certificates to children who completed Anganwadi education and were joining Class 1.
Girls Raise Key Issues in Sneha Groups Mock Parliament
During the Sneha Groups Mock Parliament, girls raised questions on several important issues, including:
- Education
- Health
- Cyber security
- Transportation
- School infrastructure
- Appointment of women teachers
- Distribution of sanitary napkins
Officials concerned responded to questions regarding various government schemes and public welfare programmes.
“Ammaku Aksharamala” Programme Improving Women’s Literacy
Speaking on the occasion, SERP CEO Divya Devarajan recalled that even when Seethakka was in the opposition, her discussions in the Assembly often made officials think deeply about public issues.
Divya Devarajan said that Sneha Groups have become an effective platform enabling girls at the village level to confidently express their concerns and problems.
Officials also explained that through the “Ammaku Aksharamala” programme launched to improve women’s literacy, lakhs of women have learned to read and write and progressed from using thumb impressions to signing their names.
