After inspecting the distribution of enumeration forms in Hyderabad, Rao said the exercise is aimed at ensuring a clean and transparent voters’ list by identifying duplicate, fake and deceased voter entries. He also accused the Congress and BRS of spreading misinformation regarding voter deletions and urged citizens to cooperate with election officials. The SIR process is currently underway.
N Ramchander Rao Inspects Enumeration Form Distribution in Hyderabad
The Telangana BJP chief made the remarks after inspecting the distribution of enumeration forms in Hyderabad as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision exercise.
According to Rao, the revision process is being carried out by the Election Commission of India in accordance with constitutional provisions.
He emphasized that the exercise should not be viewed as a programme initiated by the Central Government.
SIR Aims to Remove Duplicate, Fake and Deceased Voter Entries
Explaining the purpose of the Special Intensive Revision, Rao said the exercise seeks to improve the accuracy and transparency of electoral rolls.
According to him, the objectives include identifying:
- Duplicate voter entries
- Fake voter entries
- Deceased voter entries
He stated that maintaining clean electoral rolls is essential for strengthening the democratic process.
BJP Chief Accuses Congress and BRS of Spreading Misinformation
During his remarks, N. Ramchander Rao accused the Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of spreading misinformation regarding voter deletions.
He alleged that misleading information was being circulated about the electoral roll revision process.
The BJP leader appealed to the public not to be influenced by such claims and to cooperate with election authorities.
Process Not Targeted at Any Community, Says Rao
Rao clarified that the Special Intensive Revision exercise is not aimed at any particular community.
He stated that all genuine Indian citizens have the right to be included in the electoral rolls, subject to eligibility requirements.
According to him, the process is intended only to ensure the accuracy of voter records.
Migrants from Other States Eligible to Register as Voters
The Telangana BJP chief also emphasized that migrants from other states can register as voters.
However, he noted that eligible citizens should be enrolled in only one constituency.
He said genuine Indian citizens, including migrants, have the right to become registered voters under the provisions of election laws.
Citizens Urged to Cooperate with Election Officials
N. Ramchander Rao appealed to citizens to extend full cooperation to election officials involved in the revision process.
He said public participation is important for ensuring that the electoral rolls remain accurate, transparent and free from duplicate or ineligible entries.
