A son set fire to his mother’s house with the intention of killing her for money and property. However, the mother remained safe as she was not present in the house.
The incident took place in Kamareddy district of Telangana. According to the police, Ashok is the only son of Chandrava and Narayan, a couple of Birkoor mandal.
Narayan died some time ago after which Chandrava lived alone in the house. She had rented a room in the house.
Ashok along with his wife and children, resided in Hyderabad for work. He harassed Chandrava for money and also wanted to sell the property which is in the mother’s name.
He reached his village yesterday. He set the house on fire by pouring petrol from outside. Neighbors saw thick smoke billowing from the house along with the fire.
Meanwhile, Ashok saw his mother coming from outside and ran away.
His mother says that whenever Ashok came to the village from Hyderabad, he used to harass and beat her to sell her property.
Chandrava said that in this incident, Rs 1.20 lakh cash and 8 tola gold were reduced to ashes.
Police said that a case has been registered in this regard and investigation has been started. Accused Ashok is absconding.
