State Administration on High Alert as Rains Lashing across Telangana

The Chief Minister KCR, who is presently stationed in New Delhi to meet the Union Ministers, held a teleconference with the officials and reviewed the flood situation in the State.

Hyderabad: Keeping in view that the heavy rains lashing across the State, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has put the State administration on high alert and directed the concerned officials to take all measures to safeguard people. He wants the entire State government machinery including the District Collectors to remain vigilant and take timely action to prevent loss of lives and property.

He Directed the Irrigation department to remain alert. In the wake of the weather warnings, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams have been deployed to rescue those who got stuck in flood hit areas and are at risk. He directed all the elected representatives to stay in their respective constituencies and coordinate with the government machinery to ensure that the people were safe and is not facing any troubles.

He spoke with the Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar over phone and issued instructions on the measures to be taken.

In view of the several streams and rivulets are in full spate due to the heavy rains, the Chief Minister asked the officials to remain alert in all the rain affected urban and rural areas in order to avoid any inconvenience to the people. He directed the employees of Municipal Administration, Panchayat Raj, Roads and Buildings and Electricity departments to constantly monitor the local conditions and take appropriate measures to ensure there are no hindrances for public services like electricity, roads and drainage canals.

As several irrigation projects and tanks in the state overflowing due to massive flooding, the Chief Minister directed the officials to take preventive measures and shift the people living in low lying areas to safer places. He asked the Chief Secretary to make contingency plans and take relief measures in the flood prone areas.

The Chief Minister also urged people in rain affected and flood prone areas to be safe and not venture out of their homes in the wake of incessant rains. People were appealed to cooperate with the officials and follow instructions in case of inundation of their areas. (Munsif News Bureau)
