Telangana Gurukul Admissions 2026-27: 18,401 Seats Filled in Phase-1 as Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar Announces Results

Telangana Gurukul institutions filled 18,401 seats in Phase-1 admissions for 2026-27. Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar released the results and highlighted the government's commitment to quality education.

Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGSWREIS) has recorded a strong response for Intermediate First Year admissions for the academic year 2026-27, with 18,401 seats filled in Phase-1 itself. The admission test results for Sainik Schools, Centres of Excellence (COE), Non-COE and Vocational Junior Colleges were released on Friday by SC and ST Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat.

The Minister stated that the government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is committed to providing free, corporate-level quality education to poor, Dalit, tribal and weaker-section students.

Government Focused on Quality Education for Poor and Marginalised Students

Speaking on the occasion, Adluri Laxman Kumar said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy views education as a powerful tool for social transformation.

He said the Telangana Government is taking historic measures to develop Gurukul educational institutions into model institutions for the entire country.

According to the Minister, the government’s objective is to provide high-quality education completely free of cost to students from poor, Dalit, tribal and weaker sections of society.

Admission Process and Application Statistics

The admission notification for the academic year 2026-27 was issued on April 5, 2026.

Online applications were accepted from April 6 to May 25, 2026.

A total of 45,357 applications were received across Telangana.

Group-wise applications received:

  • MPC Group: 21,447 applications
  • BiPC Group: 17,400 applications
  • MEC, CEC and HEC Groups combined: 6,510 applications

The Minister said there were 19,740 seats available in Gurukul institutions across the state.

Over 39,000 Students Appeared for Entrance Test

The entrance examination was conducted on May 15, 2026, at 117 examination centres across Telangana.

According to the Minister:

  • Total students appeared: 39,052
  • Attendance percentage: 86.09%

The results were released on Friday at the State Secretariat.

Phase-1 Admissions Fill 18,401 Seats

Adluri Laxman Kumar said the filling of 18,401 seats in Phase-1 itself reflects the growing trust among students and parents in Gurukul institutions.

He added that only 1,339 seats remain vacant.

  • Filled Seats: 8,156
  • Seat Occupancy: 96.63%

BiPC Group

  • Available Seats: 8,280
  • Filled Seats: 7,425
  • Seat Occupancy: 90.00%

MEC Group

  • Available Seats: 520
  • Filled Seats: 377
  • Seat Occupancy: 72.00%

CEC Group

  • Available Seats: 1,520
  • Filled Seats: 1,500
  • Seat Occupancy: 98.68%

HEC Group

  • Available Seats: 280
  • Filled Seats: 257
  • Seat Occupancy: 98%

Vocational Courses

  • Available Seats: 700
  • Filled Seats: 686

Overall Seat Occupancy

  • Total Seats Filled Across All Groups: 93.21%

Minister Appeals to Parents and Students

The Minister urged students selected in Phase-1 admissions to complete their admissions before June 7 by submitting all required certificates at their respective colleges.

He also requested parents to ensure that students attend colleges from the very first day, as classes are scheduled to begin on June 1.

Gurukul Students Achieving National-Level Success

Adluri Laxman Kumar said Social Welfare Gurukul institutions are now achieving excellent results at the national level.

According to the Minister:

  • 337 students qualified in JEE Main-2026.
  • Among them, 26 students secured more than 90 percentile.

He further noted that:

  • 525 students qualified for JEE Advanced last year.

The Minister said the Centre of Excellence colleges are producing results comparable to corporate colleges in national-level examinations such as:

  • IIT-JEE
  • NEET
  • NDA
  • CLAT

He stated that Gurukul institutions are identifying hidden talent among students from rural, Dalit and tribal areas and helping them compete at the national level.

Academic Reforms Improving Results

The Minister said the improvement in results is due to several academic initiatives introduced by the government, including:

  • Micro Academic Planning
  • Weekly Mock Tests
  • Special Academic Monitoring
  • Training by Expert Faculty Members

He also said importance is being given to:

  • Mental Strength Development
  • Student Counselling
  • Wellness Programmes

Government Clears Bills on Time

Adluri Laxman Kumar stated that the government has taken a historic decision to ensure there are no pending bills related to Gurukul institutions.

According to him, all bills will now be cleared during the first week of every month.

He also announced that meetings with parents will be conducted every month to receive suggestions and feedback.

Education Key to Removing Social Inequalities

The Minister said the government strongly believes that education is the most effective way to eliminate social inequalities.

He stated that the state’s goal is to transform children from poor families into future scientists, officers and leaders of the country.
